Reiki - Free Attunement 
Reiki is the Japanese name for Universal Life Energy, meaning a natural healing system that was discovered and evolved by Dr. Mikao Usui. It is completely independent from any belief system, so anyone can learn and apply it. All you need is the desire to heal yourself and others. The traditional Reiki usually is being taught in four degrees, including attunement: the first degree opens and aligns the crown - heart - hand chakras and enables you to heal by gently placing your hands in a sequence of positions which cover the whole body. Reiki does not treat symptoms but the whole person. The receiving person decides where the energy is needed. The second degree implants the Reiki symbols into your auric field, which you can use for specific healing goals, such like mental, emotional or distant healing. The first and second belong to the practitioner degree. The third is the master degree, which opens the main channel of the energy system, and is a deepening of spiritual healing and evolution. Often the fourth degree is being attuned together with the third, but some masters separate them, the forth is the teacher degree.The core of Reiki teaching is the attunement. An attunement is given by a Reiki teacher, who "implants" the according symbols into your auric field. These open and align your energy channels to the cosmic source of life energy. Usually you would find a teacher and attend a seminar for that. Now, very often these seminars, particularly the master / teacher degree cost $1000 and more. My personal view is, if someone is giving a seminar, provides learning materials and time, of course payment is completely in order. It is a service, and there must be a return. However, in my opinion many people miss the target and overcharge, which usually is justified by the statement, that people can only appreciate what they have paid a substantial amount for. I think, it is very comfortable to rest on such a statement to justify the actual material goal. If Reiki - which is a Universal gift, just like the air we breathe - is sold like a high priced market object that only a few wealthy people can afford, then something is wrong. Sure, there are people who do not know to appreciate the value of something they get for free, and yes, there are those who treat collecting attunements and certifications like a sport. But there are also lots of people, who know to value and to hold the gift as precious as it is. So, some masters give the attunements for free. Why attunement anyway? Aren't we all connected to the universal life energy anyway? Yes, we are. But normally the energy we can receive is just enough to keep us alive, and the flow is blocked in the energy system, as well as the channel between us and the source can be distorted, or misaligned. An attunement works like you would attune a radio, to receive a particular station. It is possible to attune yourself, if you Google for self attunement, you can find some sites with free instructions. However, in my experience self attunement isn't that powerful and not so easy. That's just my personal experience, and others may have different experiences. It's easier with the help from someone who already is attuned and outside our box so to speak. So another alternative is a Reiki teacher who offers free attunements. This can be done in person, if you have someone in your area. Or as a distant attunement. 
Are distant attunements as effective as in person attunements? Yes, in fact they are. Keep in mind, that energy is completely independent from time and space. The connection is made on the spiritual level. Some say, distant attunements are even more intense than in person attunements.I have received my first and second degree in person several years ago, and later felt the burning urge to proceed to the master degree. I was guided to find a wonderful Reiki master / teacher who offers distant attunements free, and I have to say, this was 1000 times more intense and powerful than both in person attunements before. Here is my experience: I applied for the attunement, which is the first, second and master attunement in one, and was informed, the attunement will be done within 24 hours. The next day I was just working on my computer, not thinking about the attunement, when suddenly I felt my crown chakra opening and a strong energy flow swirling through my brain. I started to see white light circles, so I was unable to continue working and went to relax. The energy flow became stronger, now I felt a bright golden light running through my energy system, and an intense warmth. Slowly, area by area the energy did run through my throat, heart, arms, and hands, and when it arrived in my solar plexus, for a while an intense stomach pain caused me feeling dizzy. Knowing, the energy must have met a blockage, I relaxed into the pain and allowed the energy to find it's path through. Finally the pain vanished, the blockage resolved, and the energy continued to flow through my belly, hips, legs, to the tips of my toes. The entire process took about 12 hours. When it arrived in my toes, I sensed my entire body glowing, filled up with light, intense warmth. Now, I wasn't told exactly when the attunement would be done, but I could feel very clear, when it began. Later I received the email confirmation about my attunement being done, and it did exactly match my experienced sensations. A deep feeling of gratitude and happiness, wholeness and abundant nourishment, growing every day, was one of the wonderful results. The Reiki master that I have received my attunement from is Master Martin Lee, who is in the direct Usui linage. The attunement is free, though, if you do not have any material that you can learn the hand positions and symbols and it's usage, I recommend you get his wonderful ebook. The attunement of course is the "tool" you now can apply, but if you just get attuned and then never do anything with, it is quite wasted. The best tool is useless if you are not doing anything with it. So, get a good book and use your gift to heal yourself and others.
